01.10.2003 19:15 Ben, my un-husband and I, will likely never get married. That is cool. I don’t want to get married. Ever. I don’t like the fact that there has to be a minister, or priest or even a justice of the peace who has to get involved in “officializing” my personal life. Ben and I have very happily been living together for almost 5 years. Very cool. At any rate, the reason that I bring this up is that the American Law Institute wrote up this 1,200 (ugh!) page document that gives recommendations on changes in family law for the society that we live in today. Again, very cool. It addresses all sorts of cohabitation stuff (some of which only applies to people with families beyond just a couple), but nevertheless, it is a victory of those of us who are of the unmarried sort. There is a whole article on this on Salon today. Comments (0) |
