We went for a long hike down by the Snoq Middle Fork today. It was sort of raining and foggy and generally a nice walk in the woods. Every once in a while, the fog would part and the snowy peaks of the Cascades would pop out. That is always pretty amazing. It was a great hike (about 10 miles?) even though we were pretty moist after all was said and done. :)
Then, on the drive back out, we saw something that you don’t just see everyday (leave it to those Washingtonians)... You see the Middle Fork road, down to the hike, is about 20 miles of dirt road. While some of it is hilly and curvy, there is a long straight section of dirt road as well. We came over this rise in the road, and there was this very strange truck going quite slowly. It had these strange, chair-like things on the top of it. As we got closer, we saw that the chair-like things were actually dog sleds. And the reason why it was going so slowly? Well, that is because hitched to the front of the truck (we’re talking a mini-semitruck here), was a dog team, with 20 or so huskies. I can’t believe that they were strong enough to pull a truck!
