I think that more than a few people had this experience last night: relatives not living in Seattle calling while watching the Monday Night Football game between the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks – and initially not realizing that the game was being played in Seattle.
Because it was snowing as if it were Wisconsin.
Indeed, it was one of those nights where commutes took hours (thankfully I don't have one of those) and snow blanketed all of the region. North of the city was far worse than the Eastside or even Seattle. Basically in Kirkland we got an inch or two, and then ice on the roadways. I just walked down to the store and the main roads are clear, even if there is a little bit of the white stuff on the side streets up to the house. If it all melts and has time to evaporate, everything will be ok. If it melts and then refreezes, we'll have an ice skating rink. It's not warm today (sub freezing), and suppose to stay bitterly cold for the next few days.
If it isn't one thing, it's another this month. First 15 inches of rain in a month where we normally get 5 inches, and now a snowy mess, something we so rarely see. |
