Everybody loves a parade
The weather turned to fall yesterday and I was feeling somewhat better in the afternoon, so I decided to go for a walk to the craft store near Porter Square, and then to the Yarn Store in Harvard Square, in between walking the length of Mass Ave. Little did I know that a parade was going to come bounding down the same route.

While it looked rather disorganized (think Solstice Parade – still very alternative, but certainly not as polished and everyone looked a little like a grungkin), but apparently it was an officially sanctioned event. In many ways it was very People’s Republic of Cambridge-esque though… alternative, green, pro-biking and public transportation, climate change awareness and very, very anti-war / anti-Bush.

It ended in Harvard Square, which was having its annual Oktoberfest – nothing compared to the real Wies’n, but fun enough. Lots of ethnic food stands and arts and crafts like stuff. Typical street fair. To boot, the emcees of the event were none other than Click + Clack from Car Talk. I recognized the voices all the way across the yaahhd, before I even saw them.

There were no nude bicyclists like in Seattle, however, it would have been a bit chilly for that anyway.

(Excuse the crappy photography. I didn’t have my camera with me, so the picture is from my cell phone. I might buy myself a little point and shoot. I love my camera and can’t imagine life without it, but it’s heavy so on a standard walk, I tend not to take it with me. Might have to invest in a little point-n-shoot one of these days)
