Hey. Sorry that I went radio-silent (as Joe would say) there for a couple of days. Traveling to Maine, working while being here, conversations with Ingrid and Shamliand the ‘rents, and all that Christmas-y stuff hasn’t given me a lot of blogging time. Besides, it’s really cold out to take photos. I mean really bloody cold.

So, let’s see. Catching up. I took the JetBlue red-eye from Seattle to Boston (overall very cool, entertaining TV, pithy and funny flight crew, they have animal crackers as one of their snack options and on time), arriving Wednesday morning. Worked from Starbucks for part of the day, hung out in Harvard Square (I know that I always say this, but when I am in Boston/Cambridge, I am always homesick for Cambridge), picked up Ingrid and Shamli in the afternoon and drove up to Maine.

The rental car is a Hyundai Sonata. It’s kind of a strange car: It feels really cheap (sort of like when we test drove a Ford Escape), yet has a great climate control system, cool rear-view mirror technology, a few nice perks (butt warmers and a moon-roof), but then no cruise control or power door locks. It’s ok to drive, but I’m not that impressed. Eh well, that’s ok.

I’m pissed at UPS. As most of you know, I made all sorts of cookies in the last few weeks, and last weekend, shipped about 1000 of them here to Orono. I mailed them at the UPS store in Kirkland (where I ship lots of stuff) on Sunday, 3 day service with a guaranteed delivery of Wednesday. Wednesday came and went. In fact, Thursday came and went. Still no delivery. I checked the tracking numbers on Thursday afternoon, only to find out that the boxes were still in Louisville, KY. Apparently they were indeed picked up at the UPS Store as scheduled, but sat, inexplicably, in the Seattle shipping facility for two friggen days. Grrrrrr. I’m trying to stay calm about this, though I did go off on them yesterday. Bugger. According to their tracking site, they are supposed to be here today.

And finally, Matt sent out this very funny link, to continue the Nutcracker theme.
